* Our executive maintains a presence with several provincial and nation boards and associations in the interest of promotion and improvement of hunting opportunities for all bowhunters of Saskatchewan game.
SAWA - Saskatchewan Alliance for Wildlife & Agriculture. A provincial association of organizations working together to protect the common interests of Saskatchewans sportsmen and agricultural affiliates.
WAB - the Wildlife Advisor Board - provides guidance to Saskatchewan Environment in determination of hunting and fishing season dates and quotas of harvest in the province of Saskatchewan.
Bowhunter Education - our directors provide incentive and direction between SAFE (Saskatchewan Association of Firearms Education) and the NBEF (National Bowhunter Education Foundation) accredited instructors in the province.
F&WDF - the Fish and Wildlife Development Fund - directs the expenditure of moneys collected from the sales of hunting, trapping and fishing licenses for the benefit of fisheries, wildlife and habitat in Saskatchewan.
PFRA - the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration - maintains and manages an extensive network of community pastures throughout the province. These areas, established for the protection and maintenance of critical grazing lands for cattle also have proven to provide critical habitat for a myriad of wildlife in Saskatchewan. The SBA works closely with the provincial and individual pasture management to maintain an understanding of access issues between recreational hunters, patrons and pasture managers. It is in the interest of all involved that hunting continue in these semi-wild places but not at the risk of grazing production.
PCBA - Physically Challenged Bowhunters of America - our association maintains a corporate sponsorship with the belief that bowhunting is a sport accessible to all.
The Saskatchewan Bowhunters Association (SBA) was born of the vision of a group of dedicated bowhunters who saw a need for improvement in the bowhunting opportunities in Saskatchewan. Over the years, SBA has been instrumental in establishing and maintaining archery only hunting seasons for all big game in Saskatchewan, except bear (special allowances have been made for archers hunting bear that negate the requirement for a separate season).
Thanks to the efforts of the SBA, bowhunters in Saskatchewan can enjoy:
References to season date and length are, of course, in general and do not imply actual season dates!
Please refer to the Saskatchewan Environment web page for a complete synopsis of hunting seasons in Saskatchewan.
The efforts of the SBA in the past have been relentless and we see the reward in the liberal seasons available to all who wish to bowhunt in Saskatchewan.
PLEASE JOIN US in our continued campaigns to improve bowhunting in Saskatchewan. Only with the support of a strong membership can our voice be heard and our message received.
